EXPLANATION
Our Institution

La Casita Foundation founded in 2008, thanks to the firm conviction and determination of Bertha Downing de Parajón, the Founding President, and the support provided by her husband, Mr. Luis Parajón and their daughters Marian and Cristina, as well as a group of founding volunteers, a group of the Order of Malta and the Parish of San Juan Bosco where operations initiated.

During 2011, La Casita focused its programs toward strengthening women’s dignity. Later, in 2012, La Casita established the 1-2-3, Initiative: Work, Human Formation, and Family.

Afterwards, in 2015, La Casita became an independent Foundation obtaining its 501(c)3 nonprofit status. In 2016, thanks to a partnership with Miami Dade County Parks & Recreation, we relocated to the Jose Marti Park, with operations from Tuesdays to Saturdays.

Mission

To enhance the dignity of women and their capacity to transform the world through our 1-2-3 Initiative: Work, Human Formation, and Family.

We work in empowering women and their families in vulnerable situations, providing them with the necessary tools and skills for a better quality of life.

Our Vision

To become the number one integral training facility for women in vulnerable situations, and provide them with the necessary tools and skills for work based on ethical values to improve the quality of life, family and community.

Institutional Values

  • Excellence in work.

  • Dignity of a person.

  • The family as a fundamental pillar of society.

  • Service with joy.

  • Commitment with freedom and responsibility.
